Quick Start Guide
This guide walks you through setting up a new job analysis and scoring your first batch of candidates in TalentRanx. By the end, you’ll have a ranked list of candidates with clear, evidence-based hiring recommendations.
Step 1 – Create a Job Analysis
This step is optional - you can create a job or role as part of the scoring process below. However for complex roles or if you would like to customize a role with late-breaking or additional requirements for assessment, then job analysis may be something you want to do.
-
Open the Job Analysis Wizard From the sidebar, click Job Analysis and then New Job.
-
Add the Job Description
-
Paste the Text – Copy and paste the full job ad into the text box. Formatting isn't important.
-
Upload a File – Select a PDF, DOCX, or TXT file containing the job description.
-
Review and Edit
-
Check the extracted text for accuracy and optionally, make any corrections.
-
Ensure all important details (title, company, location, requirements) are present.
-
AI Requirement Extraction TalentRanx will extract key requirements for the role (including necessary skills and qualifications).
-
Edit Requirements – Adjust wording, set importance (Must Have, Desirable), or delete irrelevant items.
-
Add New Requirements if needed such as late breaking items or adjacent skillsets.
-
Save the Job Analysis Once satisfied, click Save. Your job analysis is now available for scoring sessions.
Step 2 – Start a Scoring Session
-
Open Score Candidates From the left sidebar, click Score Candidates menu option, then click the Score Candidates button.
-
Select a Job Choose your newly created job analysis from the dropdown list. (You can also create a job analysis inline here if needed and the subsequent steps in the wizard will allow you to review the job requirements)
-
Upload Candidate CVs
-
Drag and drop one or more CV files, or browse to select them.
- Supported formats: PDF, DOCX, TXT.
-
Review the uploaded files list before proceeding.
-
Name the Review Give your scoring batch a descriptive name so you can identify it later in the dashboard.
-
Start Scoring Click Start CV Scoring. Resumes are queued for background processing—no need to keep the browser open.
Step 3 – View Results
-

View status updates from the Dashboard or by returning to Score Candidates.
-
Completed resumes display their score and recommendation immediately.
-

-
Adding Candidates to a Scoring Session
-
You can add candidates to a Scoring Session that has already been assessed.
- From the left sidebar, click Score Candidates menu option, then click on a completed scoring assessment.
- Click the + Add Candidates button where you can provide additional resume documents to be scored.
- Track progress of these newly added candidates as outlined above.
Tips
- Use clear, measurable requirements in the job analysis for more accurate scoring.
- For repeat roles, reuse the same job analysis to compare candidates consistently.
