Candidate rating rules

By default, candidate scoring bands, score ranges and colours are:

  • Limited: 0–49 — red

  • Potential: 50–69 — orange

  • Strong: 70–84 — green

  • Excellent: 85–100 — dark green

Combined, these define a Candidate rating rule and it's possible to change these to suit your recruiting or hiring needs.

Candidate rating rules convert assessment scores into clear role-fit labels and colours, helping you quickly compare candidates. For example, a candidate may be rated Excellent when their CV shows strong evidence across the role’s key requirements, while Potential may indicate relevant strengths alongside gaps to explore in interview. Alternatively, the same role-fit labels could be more prescriptive such as Interview Candidate and Not Successful Email respectively.

You can tailor the score ranges to suit the type of role being hired. For example, an entry-level position with widely available skills may use a narrower Excellent range, reserving it for scores of 90–100. A highly specialised or niche role may use a broader top band, such as 70–100, recognising that candidates may be worth interviewing on the basis they have demonstrated rare skills or experience.

Rating rules map assessment scores to labels and colors. The rule selected for a review is saved with that review, so later changes do not alter historical assessments.

The Settings page allows you to make changes to candidate rating rules if required.
